The Gutter Cat Gang phenomenon is best represented by its community. I’m new to the Gang, and already feel embraced and encouraged to participate, and not shunned for joining late.

But this article isn’t about me and my experience, this is about why PUMA and GCG are perfect bed fellows, and why the synergy between the brands is only going to allow GCG to flourish across various platforms and sports.
Let us begin with a bit of history. PUMA was originally founded by two brothers in Germany in 1924, Rudolf and Adi Dassler. They created Gebruder Dassler Schuhfabrik in Bavaria out of their mother’s kitchen. Gutter.

The brothers split after a feud in 1948, and created competing brands, PUMA (Rudolf) and Adidas (Adi, you may have heard of them). Through the years, PUMA has sponsored several GANG athletes, and I wish to highlight a few.
1936- (as GDS) Berlin, Germany. They drove to Berlin with a suitcase full of shoes for the Olympics, in hopes of having a notable track star wear their spikes. Out of their hard graft, came the first African American athlete to receive a sponsorship deal, as they signed Jesse Owens! Legacy established, GANG!
1968- D.F., Mexico. Puma sponsored two members on the 200m podium, Gold and Bronze, Tommie Smith and John Carlos. These two athletes would live on in the annals of Olympic and American history, as they each raised a black-gloved fist in protest of the living conditions for Black Americans. A
spokesman for the IOC said Smith and Carlos’s actions were “a deliberate and violent breach of the fundamental principles of the Olympic spirit.” Brundage, who was president of the United States Olympic Committee in 1936, had made no objections against Nazi salutes during the Berlin Olympics. He argued that the Nazi salute, being a national salute at the time, was acceptable in a competition of nations, while the athletes’ salute was not of a nation and therefore unacceptable. GANG!
1970- D.F., Mexico. The “Pele Pact”. Armin (son of Rudolf) and Horst (son of Adi) called a truce, to not sign Pele, in an attempt to quelle the family feud that had been raging since 1948. Right after kick-off of the final between Brazil and Italy, Pele asked the ref for a second to tie his shoe. Those shoe’s…Puma Formstrips! Pow! Eat a $#@% Adidas! GANG!
1972- Uganda. A 400m hurdle champion named John Akii-Bua, a PUMA sponsored athlete, was forced out of his home country of Uganda by a military coup. PUMA, understanding he would no longer be able to race for his country, gave him a job at PUMA HQ in Germany. GANG!
These are only a few examples in PUMA’s history, that represent to me, a rebellious communal identity which reverberates through the brand and their ambassadors. Sound familiar?
Now, onto the future of where PUMA can grow GCG influence and awareness. Clearly in sports, PUMA has a stable of athletes who can help grow GCG awareness. Basketball is the first to have a Gutter
presence, both with TBT, notable athletes joining the GANG (KAT), and PUMA sponsored athletes (LaMelo Ball’s drippy ass kicks). But the collaboration with PUMA allows GCG to expand far beyond the hardwood. For example, GCG had a golf tournament last year in Miami. Clearly there are some golf
enthusiasts in the GANG, ya boy included. But how about some big names? Ricky Fowler, drip. Lexi Thompson, drip. And PUMA made history, signing a twelve-year-old to a NIL deal, Xavier Perez, DRIP!
Imagine something as simple as the GCG patch on a hat, a shirt, a bag? Or a Gutter OG PFP on their Apple watch? That’s exposure to a market other NFT’s are dying to break into, and GCG has a readymade partner to facilitate. Golf not your thing, no problem. PUMA was founded on track and field. Karsten Warholm, world champion hurdler. Armand Duplantis, world champion pole vaulter.
Andre De Grasse world champion sprinter. Imagine a world, where world champions are rocking GCG kicks, warmups, or even a custom GUTTER pole for Armand. The global reach of these athletes and
PUMA, allow a nearly infinite expansion of the GCG brand. Want to go faster? F1 fast enough for you?
PUMA sponsors Ferrari Scuderia! GANG GANG! A Gutter Cat, on a Ferrari F1 livery? FUCK ME! Not a F1 fan? F@@k you! No jk jk! PUMA also sponsors Team Penske for my NASCAR P1’s out there. Last but definitely not least, FUTBOL! PUMA has clout in every country around the world, and stars to match.
From Neymar to the kid from Hershey, Christian Pulisic. A GCG track suit for warmups? Yes please!
What about a jersey sponsorship? PUMA is already the kit sponsor for Marseille, Chivas, Palmeiras, and Borussia Dortmund. The opportunity is there, the GANG needs only seize it.
This is just my opining on the future of GCGxPUMA in the sports arena. This doesn’t even begin to expand on the brand ambassadors, from Cara Delevingne to Harrdy Sandhu. From Dua Lipa to Selena Gomez. This is probably a lot of things most OG’s already knew and are planning. But as a newcomer to the GANG, I got beyond excited about looking into what opportunities lie ahead for the GCG brand. Imagine the collaborations to come. Who’s next?

GANG GANG!
