Excitement is higher than ever among Gutter holders, with paradigm-shifting roadmap items set to drop.  With that excitement come a number of foundational questions about tokens and DAO governance, which the Gutter Post staff will address in the coming days.  But let us start with a simple one: why is Gutter Labs so quiet lately?

Rest assured: Gutter Dan doesn’t suddenly think you’re a jerk, unless you’re @throb81.  Rather, Labs employees and contractors are using an abundance of caution by unilaterally and without exception observing what’s called in the traditional securities industry a “quiet period”.  A blankie and a warm glass of milk are optional, but what is typically required in a quiet period is to remain, well, quiet — at a minimum about one topic in prescribed channels, and at a maximum about all business across all channels.

Gutter Labs has chosen the latter, and the Gutter Post staff (who hold 1-2% of Gutter assets between us) are grateful.  Quiet periods reduce unwanted pre-announcement volatility and keep our founders out of sticky situations.  They — along with good $gang governance — also make the Gutter Cat Gang an attractive target for investment, acquisition, and large-scale partnerships and deal-making.

We also acknowledge the flip side.  Leaps of faith are hard, nowhere more so than in NFT World where the dominant strategy often seems to be to rug holders after completing a task or two to avoid lawsuits.

Our take: take the Labs quiet period as an opportunity to relax yourself or to engage more deeply with the community.  Guidance on $gang remains Q3 post-merge, so our view is that it will launch on or close to September 30.
