On September 10th, Gutter Labs released a 4000-item DNA-2 Gutter Juice NFT collection through a public auction. The collection sold out in about six hours, and as of this writing, there are ~200 items listed for sale on the secondary market. Cloning of D2 Gutter Clones begins in October and might require a small amount of the highly anticipated $Gang utility token expected by the end of Q3.
Unlike DNA-1 Gutter Juice which gets burned to clone OG species or roll the dice into new NFTs, DNA-2 Gutter Juice (also burned) transforms an existing Gutter Clone into something new. In short, this changes the underlying image (PFP) and metadata, including the DNA trait, which updates from D1 to D2.
There are only 3000 Gutter Cats, Rats, Pigeons, and Dogs. Gutter Labs airdropped 12000 DNA-1 Gutter Juice NFTs to OG species holders. An additional 16000 were offered through a public auction, creating a total supply of up to 28000. DNA-2 adds 4000 Gutter Juice NFTs, but each must be burned to upgrade an existing Gutter Clone, thus not increasing their total supply.
Like how OG species traits carried over to create D1 Gutter Clones, D2 represents the evolution of NFTs in Gutter’s ecosystem. Instead of simply adding, we evolve and enhance an existing NFT collection. While there’s no requirement (yet) to burn through DNA-2 Gutter Juice, with only 4000 possibilities (1000 per species), the desire is palpable. The choice is ours, but for how long can we resist?
Recent World images shared by Gutter Labs show signs of D3 with messages including BEWAR3 with a letter “D” above the “3”, which one could assume is the word beware. Does one need to be aware of something, or perhaps D3 BE WAR? Could DNA-3 link with $Gang Wars, a P2E game on Gutter’s roadmap that involves clones and war. Will Gutter Clones battle (e.g., D1 Vs. D2) for a limited supply of DNA-3 Gutter Juice vials?
Some suggest that D3 Clones would be the rarest members of the Clone population, making the cost and stakes for obtaining them considerably greater. DNA-2 requires two Gutter Clone NFTs to make a D2 Clone. Could DNA-3 require three Gutter NFTs or a D1 plus D2 Gutter Clone?
I arrived at Gutter Cat Gang after many headaches and failed attempts to engage in NFTs. My take on Gutter Labs is that they are consistent with delivery while providing quality Web3 content and innovation. Likewise, our community represents a strong and lively presence on and off NFT Twitter. There are opportunities for debate and arguments no different from any dysfunctional family, but the keyword here is family. No matter which strand of DNA is left coursing through your veins, Gang is Gang.
